Wild Flower Tattoo
About
My name is Lydia Szubert, a tattoo artist based in Delft, the Netherlands and resident artist at Sapphire Ink Delft. I specialise in colour realism, micro realism and custom tattoo work, with a focus on colour theory, composition and fine detail.
Before tattooing professionally, I spent over 16 years developing my skills as a painter and visual artist. I hold both a degree in Classical Painting and a BA in Graphic Design, and previously worked as a classical art teacher and painting demonstrator for Royal Talens.
I have now been tattooing professionally for over 6 years. My background in traditional painting strongly influences my approach to tattooing, particularly in colour realism, lighting, anatomy and composition.
Specializations
I specialise in colour realism, black and grey realism, colour micro realism, botanical tattoos, animal and pet portraits, portrait tattoos, and coverups/reworking existing tattoos.
My work is strongly influenced by traditional painting techniques, with a focus on realistic colour, lighting, composition and fine detail. Click on each category below to explore the related tattoo portfolio gallery.

Cover Ups
Transform an old tattoo into something new
Cover up tattoos require more time and preparation than a standard tattoo. I will assess your existing tattoo and design a new piece that works with the original, making the most of what is already there.

Refresh or rework existing tattoos
I can make improvements to tattoos that have faded, spread or lost detail over time. Depending on the existing tattoo, options range from a simple touch-up to a full rework. Laser sessions are sometimes recommended first for the best results.

Healed Tattoos
Here you can find a selection of my healed tattoos, photographed after the healing process has been completed. Tattoos typically take around 4–6 weeks to fully heal, during which all tattoos naturally soften and lighten slightly as part of the healing process. As shown in these healed results, colour tattoos can heal beautifully and remain vibrant over time. Please click on the image to go to the full healed tattoo gallery.
